Artificial Intelligence will change many present motor applications and create many new motor applications. These new application types will grow exponentially. Many of these applications will be battery powered autonomous operating offline and some in remote areas. These applications will have motor reliability instead of cost as the main factor due to safety reasons of autonomous operation. Methods of meeting the high safety requirement will be discussed. These will include designing for reliability at a minimum cost, designing for low voltage high current operation, designing with higher number of phases and going to true 3D part and assemblies. These autonomous applications will lead to new and unimagined future applications and have a large impact on the motor industry.
